What is password expiry, and how it affects you.
Passwords on LMG accounts are set to expire after 90 days. Once your password expires access is prevented to LMG email, SharePoint and LMG Dashboard users (not client Dashboard users) as well as Microsoft Windows logins and Apple Mac logins. If you use smart phones and tablets for email access this will also be prevented from connecting.
How to change your password.
If you are working from head office with access to the LMG-CORPORATE network then please use the below instructions:
- Windows users: When logged in press CTRL+ALT+DEL, Change Password
- MacBook users: Connect to the LAN, Select System Preferences (top left Apple menu), Users + Groups, Highlight your account, Change password.
- Please remember to change your mobile device password too as below.
If you are based on site or from home, then please use the below instructions:
- Outlook or Webmail-Only users: Logon to Office 365 (https://office.com), Click on options menu (top right cog), Change password.
If you only have LMG email on your mobile device, please follow the below instructions:
- First change your password on LMG Webmail: Logon to Office 365 (https://office.com/), Click on options menu, Change password
- At some point after changing your password, you will be prompted by the mail client on your smartphone to enter your new password
What are the events and issues for each user type?
- Office Users (PC/Windows Laptops/Apple MacBooks): If you are an office user with a Windows PC/laptop or Apple Mac, you will receive a password expiry reminder when you login (with notice before expiry)
- Site Staff: If you are a SharePoint, Webmail or LMG Dashboard user e.g. site staff, you WILL receive a Change Password reminder when you login to each particular system.
- Remote Laptop/MacBook Users: If you change your password when not in an LMG office this can cause a mis-sync (e.g. laptop with old password, email with new password) but this will be corrected automatically when you next visit the Hatton Garden Office and login when connected to the network there (MacBook users should update or create a new KeyChain if prompted)
What can i do to prevent any of theses issues for occurring?
All Users: The ideal scenario would be to change your password before it expires and to change it on ALL of your devices at once including SmartPhones and Tablets.
